Can I mine Bitcoin or Litecoin with a laptop or GPU?

Laptops or GPU miners are not efficient or cost-effective for Bitcoin or Litecoin mining. As more ASIC miners join these networks, network difficulty has increased significantly. Since laptops and GPUs provide much lower hashrate than ASICs, they cannot handle enough work sent by the pool, so the chance of earning rewards is very low.
